The highly anticipated August Festival at Tramore Races was launched recently, with Summer racing like no other returning to the seaside venue for an action-packed, fun-filled four days from Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th of August.
Along with seven exciting horse races each day, this festival promises entertainment for all ages, both on and off the track!
Speaking at the launch Racecourse Manager, Owen Byrne said “There is a lot to look forward to at Tramore Races this August, the festival really provides something for everyone. All the signs are good from a racing perspective, we have a fully sponsored card every day, the addition of two new top-class races to Thursday and Sunday’s cards with increased prize money for these races of 30,000, a significant increase in prize money and the track is in great shape.
“In terms of sales, all the indications are that it will be a cracker, pre-sale tickets are going really well and hospitality packages and group deals are flying too. Our new catering and bar providers have been in place for a few meetings now and have gone down a treat. Many festival racegoers will be sampling their produce and our new look facilities for the first time in August so we are all really looking forward to it.”
Thursday 15this the official opening of the festival, an evening that traditionally gives racegoers from near and far the chance to re-connect with old friends and meet some new ones too. Racing enthusiasts and the wider horse racing industry will be rewarded with the introduction of the exciting ‘Flynn Hotels’ feature race, worth a whopping €30,000 which should attract a competitive field. The first of seven races goes to post at 5pm and music by ‘Three for the Road’ after racing, will ensure the party goes on until late.
Friday 16thwill be bustling at the seaside track with entertainment guaranteed to make this a real Friday night treat! Waterford Chamber of Commerce are hosting their festival BBQ Race Night complete with a dedicated marquee making it the ideal staff night out for any Waterford based business. Booking is direct with Waterford Chamber for this package however, there are plenty more options available at the racecourse that evening for socialisers too. Music by popular act ‘Sleeze and Cheese’ will kick off in the marquee straight after racing.
Saturday 17this the highlight of the South East’s summer fashion season, featuring the Style Evening at Tramore Racecourse. With over €5,000 in prizes up for grabs, top fashionistas, as well as best dressed gents, will be hot-footing it to the track to take part. Online registration for male and female entrants is now live at tramoreraces.ie and style scouts and judges will be circulating the enclosures on the evening too. Aprés racing music will be provided by ‘Indigo Mood’ at The Lawn Bar and ‘Soul Reason’ on the main stage in the marquee.
Sunday 18th is the Family Fun afternoon and kids of all ages take centre stage with a mega selection of bouncy castles, outdoor and indoor games, pony rides and face painters. The racing is not the only spectator sport available on Family Day, the All-Ireland Final will be shown live in the GAA Marquee complete with a bar, ample seating and trackside views of the racing…where else would you want to be watching the big game?
