LAST year suffered the heartbreak of a one-pont defeat in an all-Ireland final at Croke Park.
This time it was the Waterford side who broke hearts as they beat St Rynagh’s of Offaly. Gailltír clinched the AIB All-Ireland Intermediate trophy with a dramatic goal deep into added time. It came from Úna Jackman who was brought on as a substitute in the 50th minute.
You dream of this
St Rynagh’s led by two points with only seconds remaining but the super sub’s super goal sent Gailltír captain Áine Lyng up the steps of the Hogan Stand to lift the Agnes O’Farrelly Cup.
She spoke for everyone at the club when she said it was a day when dreams had come true.
“You dream of this as a kid, I don’t think you can put into words what this feels like,” she said.
