TWO mayors and the Rose of Tralee helped launch Waterford’s Darkness Into Light Walk.

The Mayor of Waterford City & County Council, Cllr Declan Doocey, Metropolitan Mayor, Cllr.Joe Kelly, and the Rose of Tralee, Waterford’s Kirsten Mate Maher, were at the Mayor’s Parlour to announce details of the walk, scheduled for dawn on Saturday, May 11.

Hundreds of thousands of people around the world will get together to walk from the darkness of night into the light of morning to help Pieta House in the global fight against suicide and self-harm.

Symbolically the walk represents the therapeutic counselling journey. It sparks conversation about the importance of mental health and wellbeing in all our lives. The entry fees raised around the world allow Pieta House and its international charity partners to continue to deliver vital services.
