WATERFORD Lions Club has made a final bow to Strictly Déise Dancing.
After 11 years, the curtain has come down on the show which the Lions Club ran annually in the Tower Hotel. It raised more than €250,000 for local charities and people in need.
In a statement the club thanked all of those involved for making this possible. It said: “To our dancers who raised so many funds and rehearsed for months prior to the show, thank you.
“To Betty Mulcahy from the Mulcahy-Bible School of Dancing, thank you for training our dancers to such a very high level.
All involved are grateful to Patsy for what he set in motion
“Thanks to Zara King of Virgin Media Television for interviewing on the night of the shows.
“Thanks to Susan Reid-Fitzgerald for organising so much behind the scenes of the show.”
The show was originally conceived and launched in 2009 by Patsy Sheridan of the Waterford Lions Club. Patsy was the driving force behind the event.
“All involved are grateful to Patsy for what he set in motion and continued for eleven years,” said the club.
The Waterford Lions Club continues to raise funds for local charities and groups through a number of different events each year.
